Compared to its blade-based equivalents, burr coffee grinders are frequently more expensive. They are stronger and create finer grinds for all kinds of coffee. Burr coffee grinders also offer many grind settings that you can change based on your need. Coffee grinders with blades cost less money.

A regular coffee grinder won't be able to grind fine enough for espresso, but that doesn't mean you can't grind an espresso blend in a normal grinder. Espresso blends are designed by the roaster to pull a well-balanced espresso shot, but you can still brew drip coffee with them.

NOTE: An espresso grinder is not the same as a coffee grinder. Espresso grinders have a much finer range of grinds.

Coffee grinder is a broad term for any machine designed to grind coffee. However, not all coffee grinders can create the fine grind needed for an espresso machine. Manual coffee grinders often struggle to achieve that fine grind and should instead be used for Moka pot espresso, French Presses, or pour over.
